Release of CHSP Funding for NEW Providers – First in 5 Years

Care Finder Program

The Australian Government has this week issued a grant opportunity for the provision of funding under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). With the exception of the release of funding for CALD communities in late 2020, this is the first release available to NEW providers in almost 5 years.

GO6887 offers $100 million of funding in the 2024-25 financial year for providers to deliver the following services in targeted Aged Care Planning Regions (ACPRs):

  • Domestic Assistance
  • Home Maintenance
  • Allied Health and Therapy
  • Transport services

Available ACPRs and funding amounts can be found in the Priority Table here.

The grant opportunity is open for applications between 16 April 2024 to 31 May 2024, with service delivery by successful applicants to commence from no earlier than 1 October 2024 to 30 June 2025.

The minimum annual grant amount is $250,000 (GST exclusive) and successful applicants will have the opportunity to extend funding through to 30 June 2027 when extension arrangements are released.

To be eligible you must be an existing Commonwealth funded provider of one of the following:

  • Department of Health and Aged Care (approved Aged Care Provider)

Care Finder Program
KLR Communications wishes to congratulate our client Advance Diversity Services in its successful bid to deliver the Care Finder program in NSW.

Advance Diversity will receive funding to focus on the establishment of the program for CALD communities in South Eastern Sydney, including the areas of Hurstville, Kogarah, Rockdale, Sutherland and Cronulla.

The establishment of a network of care finders aims to provide specialist and intensive assistance to help people within the care finder target population to better understand and access aged care and connect with other relevant supports in the community.

The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety found that the aged care system needs more localised and face-to-face support to help people to navigate and access aged care services and other relevant supports, particularly for those at risk of falling through the cracks.

Advance Diversity will help to develop and enhance aged care by providing assertive outreach and engagement to those who:

  • are isolated or have no support person (e.g. carer, family or representative) who they are comfortable to act on their behalf and/or who is willing and able to support them to access aged care services via My Aged Care
  • experience communication barriers, including limited literacy skills
  • have difficulty processing information to make decisions
  • feel resistance to engage with aged care for any reason and their safety is at immediate risk or they may end up in a crisis situation within (approximately) the next year
  • are homeless or at risk of homelessness and have no family or close friends who live nearby to help them find and choose services
  • have a cognitive impairment and no family.

Advance Diversity were referred to us by an existing client serviced by our tender team. This was a new program Advance Diversity was keen to deliver in their regions of operation and, despite the tight turnaround and competing deadlines, we were keen to assist. We are delighted to hear that our client has successfully secured approximately $1 million in funding and look forward to hearing more about the outcomes of the project implementation”, said Kathryn Garth, Managing Director, KLR Communications.

Applications for the 2020 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR) are now open

Applications for the 2020 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR) are now open

The ACAR is an application process which enables existing approved provider of aged care and organisations intending to become an approved provider, to apply for Australian Government-subsidised places and/or capital grants in an open, competitive and equitable way.

If you are an existing approved, or prospective aged care provider, you can apply for a share of:

NDIS Aged Care Policies and Procedures
  •  2,000 residential care places – noting applicants that can demonstrate they can deliver care immediately (‘bed-ready’) or within an 18 month period will be prioritised before longer term proposals. Locations considered to have the highest need for residential care places, including those within regional, rural and remote Australia will be prioritised above those where there is less need.
  • 1,028 short-term restorative care places (STRC)
  • up to $150 million in capital grants for residential care with a view to funding projects that will improve access to quality residential care services in regional, rural and remote locations and to special needs groups in any location.

Awarding of capital grants will prioritise projects that will:

  • upgrade services to create more spacious rooms, increase privacy and decrease the need for shared living quarters;
  • focus on dementia-friendly services aimed at allowing people living in the bush with dementia to remain in their communities;
  • enhance infrastructure to improve infection prevention and control; and
  • help providers in financial stress bring their allocations of residential care places online, including those impacted by climactic events (bushfires, floods) and COVID-19.

The 2020 ACAR Invitation to Apply commenced on 18 December 2020 and will run until 8 March 2021.
